At the Frisian Makkum there is also a kitesurfing location.

IJsselmeer, Makkum (Friesland)

There is plenty of room to prepare your kite. You are only alowed to kite on the outside of the the yellow line of buoys. At this location should kitersurfers absolutely have to stick to the rules. The spot is supervised rigorously by an official of the  municipality, if there are violations, you get an ticked immediately.

 

The kitesurfing area is easily accessible, you can park for free in the parking lot behind the Pyramid Hotel ’The Vigilante’.

 

Then you will have to walk around 200 meters along the canal. Behind the ”blue” sign the kitesurfing zone Makkum starts. The kitesurf area is located exactly in the corner, here it is perfect for rigging your kite.

 

Restrictions

Makkum is officially opened by the government from October first to May first. The Kitesurf location Kornwerderzand is  open when Makkum is closed.
